Here is a soup recipe to warm your tummy on these cold winter days. It comes from a cookbook published by the Pacific School Community, “Farmers Grow Our Food”. The recipe was originally submitted by the Najera Family.
Recipe:
In a large pot add 2 gallons water, pork, onions and garlic. Cook until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Add chili and hominy, bring to a boil for about 15 minutes. Garnish with oregano and cabbage. Serves 6-8 people.
Ingredients:
6 lbs. pork with bones
2 large onions
4 cloves garlic
1 can Las Palmas red chile
2 cans hominy
1 Tablespoon salt
1 head cabbage chopped
Oregano
Sliced lemon
